All about the SMBA Fall Winter Program

REGISTRATION WILL OPEN JULY 15TH, 2024

The Saskatoon Minor Basketball Association (SMBA) offers development programs for all ages.

Program Overview: Our fall/winter programs run from mid-October to mid-March, with a break over Christmas coinciding with the school break.

Dunkaroos:

  • For kids in grades 1 and 2.
  • Teaches fundamental basketball skills through skill development sessions and small area gameplay tailored to young players.
  • Runs only on Saturdays at the same location and time each week, from mid-October to mid-February.
  • For more information, please click on the Dunkaroos tab on the homepage.

Community League:

  • We offer a community development league for kids and youth from grades 3 to 12 .
  • We work with community associations to create teams and assign coaches. The community coordinator assigns practice times with the coaches, and communication comes from the coach to individual players and families.
  • Games are played on Saturdays and are scheduled by the SMBA.
  • We are using Teamlinkt as our website, and the Teamlinkt app will sync schedules directly to your mobile device.
  • Registration occurs on the SMBA website. When registering, please select the community association you live in. If your community does not offer basketball, you will be placed in the next closest community association that does.

Next Level Development League

  • The NLDL is a "city-wide" league for more experienced grade 5/6 and grade 7/8 boys and girls.
  • This league offers Saskatoon's more competitive athletes a chance to compete against peers of the same skill level.
  • Players will be independently evaluated for this program and drafted onto teams.
